Depression is a serious but treatable disorder that affects millions of people, from young to old and from all walks of life. Depression affects a person’s thoughts, making everything seem dismal, negative, and hopeless.
1. Laughter helps lighten your mood
You can laugh laoudly if you watch a funny movie. However, the easiest way to beat depression is spend time with someone who has a good sense of humor. Laughing releases tension and has a natural ability to heal. You know, Charlie Chaplin once said, “To truly laugh, you must be able to take your pain and play with it.”
Take a 15- to 30-minute brisk walk every day — or dance, jog, or bike if you prefer. People who are depressed may not feel much like being active. The problem is you don’t have motivation now! Please ask a friend to excecise with you, a happy person can be a great source of inspiration to you. Once you get in the exercise habit, it won’t take long to notice a difference in your mood.
3. Express yourself.
With depression, a person’s creativity and sense of fun may seem blocked. Exercise your imagination (painting, drawing, doodling, sewing, writing, dancing, composing music, etc.) and you not only get those creative juices flowing, you also loosen up some positive emotions.
